Why does Tier One represent just a handful of professional speakers?

This question is one we’re asked often.

And the answer is simple … the number of speakers available to a client today has never been higher and choosing from an ever-increasingly crowded market can be confusing and overwhelming.

Browse any major speaker website and you’ll find thousands of speakers to choose from.

That’s where Tier one is different. Unlike a speakers bureau, we are a boutique management company, which means we work closely with our talent and manage every aspect of their speaking business – handling incoming enquiries, booking their travel, managing their diaries, helping them create content, arranging payment etc.

More importantly, we’re deliberately very selective in who we represent (in fact we turn down more speakers than we accept for representation).

In other words, when you book a Tier One speaker, you can feel confident that they are the very best in their niche and topic. You’re in a safe pair of hands and with a speaker who will go the extra mile to understand your business and brief intimately and take the time to tailor something for your audience and brief. Similarly, we provide a level of service to our clients that is top tier, and when they book a speaker with us, you are guaranteed to have an amazing experience.

That said, if, on the odd occasion we don’t have a speaker that fits your brief perfectly, we’ll happily suggest other speakers in the industry that aren’t part of Tier One who we know are exceptional.

Lastly, as a small business, we feel that the more time we can dedicate to our clients’ needs, the better the ultimate outcome. We personally have a call with all clients to delve into the specifics – how do you want the audience to feel when they hear the speaker? What theme do you have for your event? What has worked well and not so well in the past? What spot is the speaker going to be (for example, closing speaker) and what vibe do you want them to have (energetic, knowledge focused etc). The more we can learn about what the client needs, the better we can work together to nail the brief.

It’s also worth noting that having personally seen over 500 speakers live on stage during my career, I know what makes an amazing keynote speaker. I understand from an audience’s point of view what they want to feel and learn and I want to be able to vouch for our speakers because I’ve experienced them live. It’s all good watching a glossy show reel, but being in the room when a speaker delivers their magic is something we take pride in. So when we recommend a speaker, it’s because we know from personal experience that they will exceed your expectations and have your audience talking about them for weeks and months after your event.
